Second Beta

Today we received the results of our surro's second beta test, which came in at 9,380! While it didn't double, that is very close, so we are confident that we are heading in the right direction.

Her progesterone level was a bit low at 10.1, so her OB wrote a 30-day prescription. I think the normal level is 15-20...though not sure?

Overall, though, we are VERY happy with the results. The scan this Thursday should show a lot more...and hopefully we get to see a heartbeat so we can get out of the woods a bit here. Thank you EVERYONE for your thoughts and comments and prayers. They're helping as this little bean grows. Keep them coming...!

(this waiting is killing me...and it's only just the beginning!)

  3. AWESOME BETA!!! Depending on what type of progesterone she is taking, it will show lower. The PIO shots (progesterone in oil) it will show 25 and higher as normal, suppositories it is usually lower but 10 is definitely lower than it should be. If they gave her Endometrin, 2x-3x a day that will bump it up nicely as will crinone gel suppositories but not as high a jump if it was the shots. Also if she has some spotting it will be due to the lower progesterone level and then subsequently from the suppositories so try not to worry! BEST OF LUCK!

  6. I think the wait in the very beginning is definitely the worst one. Once a heartbeat is detected, it gets less intense. Of course, the worry never goes away. Even after he/she is in your arms. Welcome to parenthood!

  7. Oh I'm so excited for you!!!!!! Her beta sounds perfect. Once you hit 1200, the numbers stop doubling and slow down a bit. I'm glad that they picked up on the progesterone. It's such a simple fix, but if it's too low, it can cause a miscarriage. Sounds like the docs are on top of everything this time! Can't wait for your scan, when you get to see that beautiful little heartbeat!!
    Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

  8. WHAT AN AWESOME DAY ALL AROUND!!! How many more days until next Monday??? (PS Also have been told that once your numbers are that high the doubling starts tapering off to around 72 hours-- so it sounds like you guys have no reason to worry at all!)
