Doing the happy dance!!!!
Our surro was having some headaches, which happened in our June pregnancy that resulted in a m/c, so she asked for an appointment with her OB one week earlier than scheduled. After a blood test, a lot of waiting, and an ultrasound, she called with this wonderful number!! We were so happy that things were looking good.
The ultrasound showed a gestational sac, yolk, and something that resembled a fetal pole. No heartbeat detected yet but she's only 5 weeks and 5 days. Hoping that her second beta on Saturday will at least double. There was also some fluid visible but the doctor could not confirm what it was...hoping there is no bleeding going on in there :-/ We are definitely happy with the number, as our June beta was like 170 or something and then went down to like 80 two days later,...and she was just over five weeks. So a good start!
Keep growing little one...everyone is rooting for you!!!!
Just found your blog a week or so ago.. I wanted to let you know that once the betas get high like that DONT be alarmed if they don't double. once they get high they kinda level off.. That is so great that she saw so much at 5w5d! Keeping your little one in prayer! Tonya
ReplyDeleteThanks Tonya, and thanks for following our story. This is the first (high) beta we've had so while I THINK it's good, I'm not 100% sure it's a great beta for where we are (5w5d). Though from Dr. Google (love him/her, hate him/her!) it seems it's a good number. I also read on the web the following: "In the majority of pregnancies, a sac should be visible when levels exceed 2,000. A yolk sac is commonly seen in normal pregnancies once hCG tops 2,500; an embryonic pole is expected at 5,000; and a heartbeat is seen in the majority of normal pregnancies when levels reach 10,000." SO if I take that information to heart then we are doing ok at this point. I promise not to get alarmed...just a bit fidgitty...
ReplyDeleteThe other side of the wait has begun!!! We're very hopeful that everything goes letter by letter according to the textbook.
ReplyDeleteYour all, as ever, firmly in our good thoughts and prayers.
